Week11 Update

Researched and wrote 8 stories, rediscovered cinematic gems from Austria, reviewed some brilliant experimental films collected within ACMI. Also, reread the cinematic texts in the works of Austria filmmaker Michale Haneke, whose film The Piano Teacher has built into the very foundations of Western "high art", an oppressive and repression of excess and desire. It also shares a deeply Freudian pessimism about the future of culture. Although many of Michael Haneke's films are disturbing, 'obscene', and contain extremely disturbing images, it is nevertheless a consistent and unforgettable investigation of Western culture at a point of spiritual collapse.
